This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on this website and within the Offgrid CMS. A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser. Some cookies are strictly necessary; others remember your preferences or help us understand how the site is used.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small piece of data that a website stores in your browser. Cookies let a site remember information about your visit — such as whether you are signed in or which language you have chosen — so that the next page or the next visit works the way you expect.
Cookie categories
We separate cookies into three categories based on what they do:
Essential cookies
Strictly necessary for the service to function. Without them, you cannot log in to the CMS or complete secured actions. Essential cookies do not require prior consent.
Functional cookies
Remember preferences such as your chosen language or colour theme so that the site loads the way you left it. They are not used for tracking or advertising.
Analytics cookies
Help us understand how visitors use our marketing website in aggregate. They are set by Google Analytics 4 and may involve a transfer of data to Google LLC.
Cookies in use
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
authToken |
Authenticates CMS users. Contains a signed JSON Web Token in an httpOnly, secure cookie so it cannot be read by JavaScript. | 30 days | Essential |
lang |
Stores your preferred site language so you don't have to pick it again on the next visit. | 7 days | Functional |
theme |
Stores your preferred colour theme (light/dark) so the site loads in the right theme. | 30 days | Functional |
_ga |
Set by Google Analytics. Distinguishes unique visitors so we can count returning users. | 2 years | Analytics |
_ga_* |
Set by Google Analytics 4. Used to maintain session state. | 2 years | Analytics |
Consent
Essential cookies are set as soon as you visit the site because the service cannot work without them. Functional cookies are set only after you actively pick a language or theme. Analytics cookies are set on first visit because we currently rely on legitimate interest for aggregated, non-advertising analytics; if you prefer not to be included, you can opt out by blocking analytics cookies in your browser or by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Controlling cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking the authentication cookie will prevent you from staying signed in to the CMS. Blocking functional cookies will reset your preferences on every visit but will not break the site. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect any functionality.
Third-party cookies
Analytics cookies are set by Google LLC. For more on how Google uses this data, see Google's privacy policy and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
